An Unforgettable Proposal by Douro River. Ivan and Kasandra
Se há algo que a vida nos ensina é que as melhores histórias de amor muitas vezes começam com surpresas inesperadas. Recentemente, tive a oportunidade única de testemunhar e registar um desses momentos mágicos quando Ivan, um cavalheiro mexicano apaixonado, entrou em contato comigo para orquestrar um pedido de casamento surpresa durante as férias românticas que o casal passava na Europa.
O cenário escolhido foi a deslumbrante Ponte D. Luís, que se ergue majestosamente sobre o Rio Douro. Antes do grande momento, fiz questão de chegar mais cedo para garantir que tudo estava nos trinques. Foi então que reconheci o nervosismo no rosto de Ivan enquanto ele e sua namorada, Kazandra, desfrutavam da vista magnífica do rio sem suspeitar do que estava por vir.
Com discrição, fui tirando alguns "test shots", embora suspeitasse que Kazandra já estivesse a perceber minha presença.
O nervosismo de Ivan era palpável, mesmo para mim, que nunca o havia conhecido antes. O momento aproximava-se, e uma mistura de ansiedade e excitação tomava conta do ambiente. Quando vi Ivan ajoelhar-se, soube que era minha hora de agir. A emoção que se seguiu foi pura, genuína e contagiante. Ali, diante do Rio Douro, estava um casal apaixonado, com todo o futuro a desenrolar-se diante deles.
Fui rápida em captar não apenas o momento do pedido, mas também as expressões autênticas de surpresa e alegria que se seguiram. Mesmo sem conhecê-los antes, senti uma imediata conexão e empatia entre os três. Fui privilegiada por ser escolhida pelo Ivan para registrar este momento tão importante nas suas vidas.
Ao apresentar-me a Kazandra, a atmosfera descontraída emergiu, dando lugar a sorrisos, lágrimas e todas as emoções que aquele momento especial pedia. E assim, passamos quase duas horas juntos, registando todos os olhares trocados, sorrisos incrédulos e cumplicidades que permeavam cada gesto.
Kazandra, com sua beleza deslumbrante, facilitou ainda mais o meu trabalho, enquanto Ivan irradiava um sorriso genuíno e um olhar incrível. Seu próprio sentido de humor contribuiu para a singularidade da ocasião.
Embora o casal já tenha regressado ao México, a nossa ligação e comunicação persiste, e acredito que continuaremos a compartilhar memórias e risadas ao longo do tempo.
Este é mais um testemunho do poder da fotografia e de como ela enriquece minha vida, proporcionando conexões e experiências únicas.

If there's one thing life teaches us, it's that the best love stories often start with unexpected surprises. Recently, I had the unique opportunity to witness and photograph one of those magical moments when Ivan, a passionate Mexican gentleman, contacted me to orchestrate a surprise marriage proposal during the couple's romantic vacation in Europe.
The chosen setting was the stunning Dom Luís Bridge, which rises majestically over the Douro River. Before the big moment, I made a point of arriving early to make sure everything was in order. It was then that I recognized the nervousness on Ivan's face as he and his girlfriend, Kazandra, enjoyed the magnificent view of the river without suspecting what was to come.
Discreetly, I started taking some "test shots", although I suspected that Kazandra was already noticing my presence.
Ivan's nervousness was palpable, even to me, who had never met him before. The moment approached, and a mixture of anxiety and excitement took over the atmosphere. When I saw Ivan kneel, I knew it was my time to act. The emotion that followed was pure, genuine and contagious. There, in front of the Douro River, was a couple in love, with their entire future unfolding before them.
I was quick to capture not only the moment of the proposal, but also the authentic expressions of surprise and joy that followed. Even without knowing them before, I felt an immediate connection and empathy between the three. I was privileged to be chosen by Ivan to photograph this important moment in their lives.
When he introducing me to Kazandra, the relaxed atmosphere emerged, giving way to smiles, tears and all the emotions that that special moment called for. And so, we spent almost two hours together, photographing all the looks exchanged, incredulous smiles and complicity that permeated every gesture.
Kazandra, with her stunning beauty, made my job even easier, while Ivan radiated a genuine smile and an incredible look. His own sense of humor contributed to the uniqueness of the occasion.
Although the couple has now returned to Mexico and United States, our connection and communication persists, and I believe we will continue to share memories and laughter over time.
This is yet another testament to the power of photography and how it enriches my life, providing unique connections and experiences.
Ivan and Kazandra, here's the promise of a future trip to Mexico, where we will share a meal and, who knows, inspire my boyfriend to experience the same emotions that you experienced. Wink, wink.
