One day in Delft as Mother and Son
Acordamos cedo naquela manhã.
3 da manhã é cedo, certo? Tínhamos um voo para apanhar às 5. Chegamos a Amsterdão na hora prevista e encontramos a cidade ainda envolta na quietude do amanhecer. Era a minha primeira vez na Holanda. Um país que sempre quis visitar.
Com corações cheios de expectativa e mochilas leves, partimos para uma aventura especial: uma viagem de um dia a Delft, um lugar onde história e beleza se encontram em cada esquina. Era um dia para explorar, rir e, acima de tudo, fortalecer os laços entre mãe e filho.
Ao chegarmos a Delft, fomos recebidos pela serenidade dos canais tranquilos e pela arquitetura encantadora. Ao caminhar pelas ruas de paralelepípedos, sentimos como se tivéssemos entrado num conto de fadas. As fachadas pitorescas das casas e as flores vibrantes nas janelas fazem parecer que estamos noutro tempo.
O meu filho já conhecia a cidade por isso serviu um pouco como guia. Ao passear por Delft, somos cativados pela arquitetura histórica, desde a impressionante Igreja Nova (Nieuwe Kerk) até a charmosa Igreja Velha (Oude Kerk), famosa por sua torre inclinada. A Praça do Mercado, vibrante e cheia de vida, é o lugar perfeito para saborear um stroopwafel fresquinho e explorar as lojas de artesanato local.
Delft oferece uma mistura única de tradição e modernidade. É um destino imperdível para quem procura a verdadeira essência da cultura holandesa num ambiente acolhedor e autêntico.
Despedimo-nos de Delft com um sentimento de plenitude, sabendo que este dia ficará para sempre na nossa memória. Foi uma viagem de descoberta não apenas de uma cidade encantadora, mas também um do outro. Voltamos para casa com os corações aquecidos, e eu repleta de gratidão por esta ligação com os meus filhos.

We woke up early that morning.
3 AM is early, right? We had a flight to catch at 5 AM. We arrived in Amsterdam on schedule and found the city still wrapped in the quiet of dawn. It was my first time in the Netherlands, a country I had always wanted to visit.
With hearts full of expectation and light backpacks, we set off for a special adventure: a day trip to Delft, a place where history and beauty meet around every corner. It was a day to explore, laugh, and, above all, strengthen the bonds between mother and son.
When we arrived in Delft, we were greeted by the serenity of the tranquil canals and the charming architecture. Walking along the cobblestone streets felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The picturesque house facades and vibrant flowers in the windows made it seem like we were in another time.
My son already knew the city, so he served as a bit of a guide. As we strolled through Delft, we were captivated by the historical architecture, from the impressive New Church (Nieuwe Kerk) to the charming Old Church (Oude Kerk), famous for its leaning tower. The vibrant and lively Market Square is the perfect place to savor a fresh stroopwafel and explore local craft shops.
Delft offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. It is a must-visit destination for those seeking the true essence of Dutch culture in a warm and authentic setting.
We bid farewell to Delft with a feeling of fullness, knowing that this day would forever remain in our memory. It was a journey of discovery not just of a charming city, but of each other. We returned home with warm hearts, and I was filled with gratitude for this connection with my son.
This trip to Delft offered more than just stunning landscapes and rich history. It gave us the opportunity to reconnect, to appreciate the present moment, and to cherish every second together.
